The role of the clinical laboratory is primarily to provide physicians with patient data for use in clinical decision-making. However, laboratory results do not always correspond with the patient's clinical status. Many different pre-analytical and analytical factors may contrib-ute to the total variability of results, moreover “in vivo and in vitro” factors that may inter-fere causing problems in interpretation of laboratory data.
