"Aesthetic/Cosmetic Medicine (CM)” is a branch of medicine, distinct from plastic surgery. It comprises all medical procedures in the field of Aesthetics excluding all surgical procedures. CM usually intervenes in the treatment of wrinkles and scars, pigmentary spots and aging of the face, hands, and neck. Although CM procedures are non-surgical but they involve the use of medications, drugs, chemical compounds or laser procedures, which are injected or applied on the skin. It must only be practiced by qualified physicians, trained to use a number of procedures. The practitioner of “CM” should be well trained in the proper use of Aesthetic drugs, their pharmacology, and adverse effects. This course is a “Level One” course introducing participants to the principles and essential skills of cosmetic medicine and ethics of its practice. This course will be followed by more advanced courses which build on the basic principles.
